Where to Start
Here are some basic points you should think about when considering to learn to drive.
Are you 17 Yet?
Silly question but to take driving lessons in the UK on public roads you must must be at least 17.
Do You Have a Provisional Licence?
You must hold a UK provisional driving licence before you are allowed to drive on public roads.
We suggest that you apply for your provisional licence a few weeks before your 17th birthday, just in case there is a delay with processing your application.
GREAT! You are 17 AND have a Provisional Licence
Then all things being equal you are ready to go. There are some points of reference below but in the main you should be OK.
Now all you need to do is CONTACT US and BOOK your first LESSON.
- Do you have any special needs or disabilities?
If so you must inform the DVLA when applying for your first driving licence and the Driving Standards Agency when booking your driving test. - Do you hold an international driving licence?
If so, this entitles you to drive in the UK for 12 months, however you must hold a UK provisional driving licence in order to take your driving test. - Are you preparing for your theory test?
You must pass a two part, computer based, theory and hazard perception test before taking your practical driving test, however this doesn't stop you taking lessons. - If you need any assistance with your theory test, please ask your instructor and he/she will be more than happy to give you all the help you need.
